Australia Day Awards for Far Northern District RSL Members
Peter Stirling, President of the Far Northern District RSL has the pleasure of awarding two RSL members Australia Day Medallions for services to the district and their local RSL Sub Branches.
Mr Wayne Lynwood from Herberton will be awarded his medallion this month at the February meeting in Tully. He won a Silver Australia Day Medallion for years of service to Far Northern District and Herberton RSL Sub Branch. Wayne is a quiet achiever and works tirelessly with the wider community. Herberton RSL and Lion's Service's Club have worked together on many projects with great outcomes. Father White's memorial and restoration of his grave site at Herberton Cemetery.
Mr Ron Savage has been awarded the Bronze Australian Day Medallion for his services to Mossman RSL and District support. Ron was the Sub Branch President for many years, but personal matters meant that he had to pull back for a while. He is always working towards the best interests of the Mossman RSL and involving the local community and schools in many projects the RSL take on. Murals for the Sub Branch fences support local Diggers, to inclusion of schools in all memorial ceremonies. The Sub Branch supports the local school.
